What if I get no results for my search
- You may have misspelled some of the keywords.
- Were you searching for a phrase containing a boolean operator? Try using quotation marks. For example, try "black and white" rather than black and white.
- You may have used a keyword that is not recognized by our search engine. Try using an equivalent word or alternate form.
- Try using fewer or less specific keywords. Avoid using very common words that usually return very large results sets.
- Refine your search by adding keywords like + or - to add or exclude certain words from your search.
E. g +man -running - this will look for images with keywords containing word man but without word running.
Search Search by keywords
Here are the most usual types of searches you can perform:
- Looking for ANY OF THE WORDS simply enter them in any order and press search.
E.g. woman blonde will look for images with keywords woman OR blonde
(Note: if you enter multiple words without the operator (i.e. bus London) our search engine will assume 'OR' is being used)
- Looking for ALL WORDS simply enter symbol + in front of the word.
E.g. +woman +blonde will look for images with keywords woman and blonde.
- Looking for EXACT WORDS simply enter the phrase between " characters.
E.g. "New year eve" will look for images with keywords containing exact that phrase.
- EXCLUDE certain words simply enter symbol - in front of the word.
E.g. woman -blonde will look for images with keywords woman BUT NOT blonde.
- FUZZY SEARCH - use ~ symbol to look for similar terms in spelling to your word.
E.g. roam~ will look for keywords similar with roam or foam or room.
- GROUPING your keywords for more control like this:
E.g. (woman man) +running will look for images with either man OR woman keywords AND running.

Search tips
- Refine you searching criteria by making use of the boolean operators + and - to include or exclude certains words.
- Besides the obvious choices of "subjects", "location",
"activity" etc., you can search for images using more subtle
concepts, for example: solitude, silence or nature.
- Look for Vertical or horizontal images
You can filter your selection to show only horizontal, vertical, square, or panoramic images by clicking the appropriate checkbox in the top search area.
- Use the fuzzy search: use the ~ opperator when looking for words with similar spelling. E.g. roam~ will look for keywords similar with roam or foam or room.
- Use * like this (walk*) which
search for derivates like walk, walking and so on.
- Instead of looking for general subjects like man,
use man standing or man running. You
will see fewer results and therefore it will be easy for you to find the
desired image.
- When you click on a image thumbnail to see its details you will notice
a section called Related keywords. You can use that area to
search for similar images like the one you found. You may check multiple kewywords to search for images that have all the attributes.
